TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF.

I am 39 years old. I live in Haines City with my Wife and Daughter. I have lived in Central Florida my whole life, mostly in Orange County, but I have also lived in Osceola, Seminole, Volusia, and most recently Polk. I am a true Floridian. I love sports, cuisine, and travel. My hobbies include video games and board games. In fact, when I was younger I was a professional video game player. My career has always been technology-driven and I spent the last 10 years working in live events.

WHAT’S YOUR ELEVATOR PITCH?

Pinnacle Technologies is a managed services provider, who’s mission is to empower small businesses in Florida by way of quality technology support and exceptional customer service.

WHAT IS SOMETHING YOU ARE LEARNING RIGHT NOW?

The biggest thing I am currently learning is the real-world process of starting a business. I am learning those little things that you don’t learn in the books but by actually taking the risk and going out their into the market. I am learning a lot about myself, but also I am learning how important my impact on the world can be.

WHAT ARE SOME WAYS THAT YOU CONTINUE TO INNOVATE AND THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX?

Reading and Listening are the two skills that are most important to me in staying innovative. First I have challenged myself to read as many books a month as I can. Right now I am targeting five books(per month) and if I achieve that, I will move to six. I personally do not like just reading for reading sake so I am sticking to leadership growth material, business literature, and other works that will help me become a stronger business owner. Listening is an active skill that I deemed to be my weakest. Now, I know everyone understands the importance of listening but I personally have had challenges with miscommunication in leadership positions. I have learned how important not just listening but also understanding the context and character of a person can be. So my practice of listening is almost more of understanding. I practice trying to make sure I can see the other persons viewpoint in all conversations, even if I wholeheartedly disagree.

WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PIECE OF ADVICE YOU HAVE RECEIVED ABOUT ENTREPRENEURSHIP?

You need a business plan. When someone tells you “write a business plan!”, it couldn’t be stressed more. Having to write things down and really think about your business idea, flesh it out on paper, is the most important step to becoming an entrepreneur. The business plan validates your idea to the world and to ourselves. If your idea is strong, it solidifies it like concrete. If your idea is weak, it pokes holes through it. Either way, you end up with a stronger business idea that is more suited for success.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP CAN BE A TOUGH AND LONELY ROAD. IN THE DIFFICULT MOMENTS HOW DO YOU STAY FOCUSED AND MOVE YOUR BUSINESS FORWARD?

For me, in those tough times, I look to my family. They are my compass and my rock. I also look to God and his grace to help guide my hand. It may seem cliche but honestly, it is the true secret to success. You can see it all over America and all through American history. Trust in the lord and love thy family and the success of life will be yours.

WHAT ARE SOME WAYS THAT YOU HAVE INTENTIONALLY COLLABORATED WITH OTHERS TO MOVE YOUR BUSINESS FORWARD?

I have collaborated with freelance designers to help create great marketing materials to legitimize my company’s presence online and to grow my brand. I hope to next begin working with a web designer to help construct a website that can generate buzz and leads.

WHY HAVE YOU CHOSEN TO RUN YOUR BUSINESS IN LAKELAND?

Lakeland is going to become the commercial epicenter of Central Florida. Historically rooted in the commercial food industry, Lakeland in recent decades has become a major technological center in Florida. Its also the home to Publix, one of the largest if not the largest grocery company in the US. I think Lakeland is going to see a huge increase in small, midsize, and enterprise companies in the next ten years. Having access to quality service providers will only make this region that much more favorable.
