TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF.

My name is Teresa Baxter and I am a 2nd-grade teacher and the owner of We Jammin’! Ever since I was a little girl, I had a passion for teaching and cooking. I was always tossed up between being a teacher or being a chef, now I get to do both! In 2002, I left New York and headed to Lakeland to attend Florida Southern College. I fell in love with this amazing city, and I never looked back!

WHAT’S YOUR ELEVATOR PITCH?

Here at We Jammin’ we believe in connecting people with food. We want to change the way you think about jam! It’s not just for sandwiches people!

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START YOUR BUSINESS?

Growing up Italian has inspired me in so many ways! I truly just want to see people enjoy something that I created. That means the world to me. I like to see people excited about my food!

WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PIECE OF ADVICE YOU HAVE RECEIVED ABOUT ENTREPRENEURSHIP? 

The most important piece of advice that I have been given is to always network and self-advocate! No one will believe in your product more than you! Sell the shit out of it! People will see your passion, and they will want to be a part of your success!

WHY HAVE YOU CHOSEN TO RUN YOUR BUSINESS IN LAKELAND?

Lakeland is the land of opportunity! There are so many exciting new places popping up, and I want to get in on it!

WHERE + WHEN CAN WE BUY YOUR FOOD?

Right now you can purchase my jams through Facebook We Jammin’ and Instagram @we_jammin_jams. During the pandemic, I have been doing free doorstep delivery to the Lakeland and Plant City area. Before COVID-19, I was doing different vendor events and the Plant City Food Truck Rally. Hopefully, that will pick up again. I also have a website in the works, where we can offer out of state shipping. I currently have a few local Lakeland and Plant City shops on board for retail sales. We are still finalizing things, so stay tuned! I also see a pop-up window at Catapult in the near future!

WHAT IS THE SIGNATURE DISH ON YOUR MENU?

Right now, we will be offering four jam good flavors! We will have the Strawberry Lemonade Jam, Blueberry Lemon Jam, Autumn Pear Cranberry Jam, and Peach Cobbler Jam! I have 2 signature dishes! Brie wrapped in a puff pastry topped with the jam of your choice is always my go-to appetizer! My other favorite is homemade cheesecake topped with Blueberry Lemon Jam! Stay tuned for the Catapult Pop Up Window, where you can see all of the ways that jam can be used!

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT BEING A BUSINESS OWNER?

There are so many things that I love about being a business owner, but my favorite thing is watching people truly enjoy my food. I love showing people how to add flair to their food and drinks with some jam goodness.

WHAT IS NEXT FOR YOU AND YOUR BUSINESS? SHARE WITH US ABOUT THE GOALS THAT YOU ARE CURRENTLY CHASING. 

Right now my biggest goal is to just make as much product as possible so that I can start distributing to several Lakeland and Plant City businesses.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY AROUND FOOD?

My favorite food memory would be me helping out at my dad’s restaurant. I will never forget the smell of the roasted garlic and Italian goodness at DiAldos Restaurant! I was 5 years old and my job was to fill the salt and pepper shakers. I knew then, that I had a passion for people and food!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE DESSERT? 

My favorite dessert is Rainbow Cookies! (That’s what we called them in Brooklyn, New York. They may be called 7 layer cookies, not as fun!)
