Jenna Nicole Photography

Jenna’s passion for photography began in middle-school when she received the gift of her first point-&-shoot camera. “It wasn’t anything special, “ she said, “But I carried that thing everywhere.” In high school, she started seeing things differently through the viewfinder and realized that there was an art behind using a camera rather than something you just use for fun. She continued perfecting her art in college and upon graduating with a degree in journalism, decided to take the leap and start her own business as a lifestyle photographer.

What inspired you to become an entrepreneur? Deciding to be an entrepreneur is actually a new decision in my life, following graduation, I spent an entire semester looking for a full-time job and not finding one.  I  knew photography was what I wanted to do full-time in the long run, but I didn’t think that would be now.

Three wishes: A new 35mm or 50mm L series lens, new clients, & to be published in more wedding magazines.

Why Lakeland? Lakeland is home. Sure I lived in “sweet home Alabama” for four years, but Lakeland is the place where I truly feel like I’m home. Birmingham is one of the coolest cities in the south, but everyone needs to watch out because Lakeland is up-and-coming!

Hardest thing about starting your business? The hardest thing about starting my business was not having a permanent place to be my “home.” Now that I’ve chosen Lakeland, building clientele has become much easier.

What is Lakeland missing? Birmingham has Pizzaz; they value historic preservation and progressivity, you find creative wall murals all over town, and their slogan is “It’s nice to have you in Birmingham,” which you can find on t-shirts and signs everywhere you go.  All of these things make Birmingham a cool place to shoot for photographers. I think Lakeland is on its way to becoming a city that has its own Pizzaz and I am looking forward to see what that is and be part of it…

Favorite things to do in Lakeland? Grab a beignet at the Poor Porker, eat a delicious Turkey and Brie or seasonal flatbread at Black & Brew, & explore the Lakeland Highlands Scrubs

How has Catapult helped you? Catapult has revolutionized the way I feel here in Lakeland. In February I attended a day-long Intro to Entrepreneurship class and learned more that day than I had in a long time. People are my favorite part about Catapult. There is an incredible community of entrepreneurs here who love to help one another grow. There is no sense of competition, but a sense of people helping people in the spirit of friendship. As a person who craves community and thrives in atmospheres where there are people, this has helped me immensely.

Secret Sauce? Love God, love people. The more I daily seek Christ the more I understand how to love people. The better I can love people the better I can serve and provide for my clients | | 863.940.9660
