Crumbles & Cream

Grit is originally from Germany, but has been living in Central Florida for the past four years. After she received her pastry chef and hotel business degree in Germany, the culinary and hospitality industries took her all over Europe, to wine country in California, and even to Dubai in the U.A.E.– just to name a few! Her work in the corporate world provided her with the necessary skills and valuable knowledge to venture out and open her very own pastry shop. She has directed all of her focus to Crumbles & Cream to deliver finely crafted pastries to the Lakeland community.

What is your business? Crumbles & Cream is a boutique pastry shop specializing in unique & custom-made German and European cakes, pastries and culinary creations.

Who are your clients? Anyone who loves and appreciates hand-crafted desserts & baked goods. I create pastries for individuals and organizations alike.

What inspired you to become an entrepreneur? I’ve always wanted to be able to give customers an alternative to “big box” baked goods, so I immersed myself into the local community to custom tailor my products and services.

What are your short-term goals? My efforts are focused on growing my customer base and marketing my authentic German and European cakes and baked goods throughout Central Florida.

What are some business wins? I have wonderful, loyal customers and receive great referrals through them. I have also been able to support local groups with donations, which is as important to me as is the financial success of my business.

How has Catapult helped you? Catapult offers a fun professional community for like-minded individuals. My business requires a commercial kitchen space and the commissary kitchen Catapult provides is priceless!

Why Lakeland? Lakeland has a lively and diverse community. I’ve met so many fantastic people of all ages and walks of life. The genuine interest in my products is wonderful.

What is your Secret Sauce? A true passion for what I’m doing, my strong interest in learning, and developing new recipes without compromising my roots.
