Since Brian graduated from the Boulder College of Massage Therapy in Colorado, he has worked at spas and with chiropractors and rehab facilities. The last 14 years of experience gave him the skills, knowledge, and confidence to start aWhiSpa, a Wholistic Healing Integration Spa where clients feel their worth, employees are invested in the company, and communities have new options to approach wellness.
What inspired you to become an entrepreneur? I wanted to start and lead a business that was different from traditional spas. I wanted the freedom to design my own programs and have a business that could be the center for a Natural Healthcare Community Network.
Goals: I want to grow the number of existing clients, offer more classes, and expand the mobile operation. I believe that aWhiSpa can be the leader of healing clinics in this community.
Hardest thing about starting your business? Believing that I could take it from my mind to a successful reality after some pretty exhausting months. I’ve learned to constantly surround myself with support to keep my moral up.
Three wishes: I’d love be able to expand and development new programs. Ideally that would also include a personal assistant! It would also be great to have name recognition in Lakeland and the Tampa Bay area, which could hopefully lead to some opportunities to speak and share about aWhiSpa and the Natural Healthcare Community Network.
Why Lakeland? I have friends and family nearby, Lakeland is not overshadowed by Orlando or Tampa, and as a city, is looking to diversify which is a great benefit for an entrepreneur.
Favorite things to do in Lakeland? Bike or kayak around the lakes with friends and family, hear live music at local venues, and volunteer at community events.
How has Catapult helped you? By providing an awesome work environment with aspiring entrepreneurs, weekly seminars, 24/7 access, and having access to office resources.
Secret Sauce? Knowing that I am working towards something far greater than myself and for the purpose of positively changing people’s lives.
