What is your business? Lkldnow is a non-profit mobile news organization with three specialties: report news about the efforts made to make Lakeland a more livable community, curate and link to news about Lakeland from other news sources, and present a continually updated stream of social media posts about Lakeland.

Who are your clients? Readers who are interested in how Lakeland is a great place to live and organizations that want to support community journalism.

What inspired you to become an entrepreneur? I saw a need for community-focused journalism that centers exclusively on Lakeland as a vehicle to get people involved in the community.

Business win? Our overseeing organization, Linking Community Now, was approved as a 501(c)(3) non-profit in record time!

Why Lakeland? The people of Lakeland have shown a can-do spirit and a willingness to invest in their dreams. There are many cool things happening in town and I can’t imagine doing this anywhere else.

What would you like to see in Lakeland? A continuation of support for small businesses, local artists, makers, and pedestrian/bicycle culture. Favorite things to do in Lakeland? Being outdoors and enjoying our lakes, relaxing with friends at locally-owned eating and drinking places, and working/meeting people at our expanding number of coffee venues. How has Catapult helped you? It’s energizing to work among other people who are creating new ventures. I’ve learned a lot from the workshops and I’ve enjoyed giving back by mentoring.

Secret Sauce? Experience. I’m a journalist who has curated news for audiences in Lakeland and Polk County since 1982. | 863.576.7079 | 863.940.9660
