As a single mom with a passion for baking, Deborah left Pennsylvania and her career in finance to pursue a degree in Baking and Pastry in Central Florida. Following graduation, she became the in-house baker of a local Italian restaurant but the position was soon eliminated from the restaurant. Deborah began waitressing but missed baking sorely, so she decided to do it all on her own. Baking continuously proved to bring her joy and she saw the same joy in others when she shared her goods– cheesecakes especially! After the ups and downs, Deborah realized she could change the world by spreading joy to everyone through her delicious creations. This fueled her to start her company, baked., and sell her baked goods locally at the farmers’ market and at restaurants in town.

What is your business? We are an artisanal bakery specializing in cheesecakes and other baked goods such as cookies, cakes, and cupcakes.

Who are your clients? We sell mostly to the patrons of the local farmer’s markets as well as some locally-owned restaurants, but are offering catering options for parties/dinners as well.

What inspired you to become an entrepreneur? Understanding that the only way to share what I love is to be the one doing it.

What are some business wins? A couple of huge business wins are finally bringing our cheesecakes to the Lakeland Farmers Market and filling our first wholesale delivery to a locally owned restaurant.

What are your short-term goals? To continue to sell at the market as well as adding on a few catering opportunities.

How has Catapult helped you? Catapult helped me to see through the fog, if you will. They helped to point me in the right direction of where to start and allowed me to take steps toward building my dream, one at a time. I never felt I was alone in this venture, it was as if I had a team behind me, cheering me on. They helped me to make connections with local restaurateurs that I would have found difficult to do on my own.

Secret Sauce? Love and passion… it allows me to share joy through my baking.
