Krazy Kombucha Opens Doors in Dixieland

THIS WEEK Krazy Kombucha has opened the doors of their brick and mortar to the public, selling unique flavors of Kombucha, a fermented probiotic tea which has numerous health benefits including good bacteria that aids in gut health for those who drink it.

Krazy Kombucha is owned by Wendy Johnson, a former nurse turned business owner. Wendy’s best friend and business partner AJ Jackson, a fitness instructor for the City of Lakeland, has been with her every step of the way. Together they have built Krazy Kombucha into the business it is today.

Just 3 years ago, Krazy Kombucha began in the basement of the original Catapult building. Since then they have spent countless Saturdays at the Downtown Lakeland Farmers Curb Market and have sold their Kombucha at Nineteen61, Good Thyme, Smoothie Squad, Cafe Zuppina, and CounterCulture.

After growing too big for the Catapult Kitchen, Krazy Kombucha began looking for a more permanent home. They found a shared space in Good Thyme where they curated more flavors, sold more product, and saved money for their own space.

Maggie Leach, the Kitchen Director at Catapult, helped Wendy and her team find a permanent location.

Back in March, Krazy Kombucha was awarded a $10,000 micro-grant from Catapult that allowed them to purchase and install a tap line to the fridge system. These improvements helped to increase their capacity to provide a welcoming and convenient environment for the customers that visit their shop.

Their new brewery located in the heart of Dixieland, includes seating, a beautiful mural by local artist, Gillian Fazio, and of course over 20 unique flavors of kombucha. Pro tip: try mixing ginger and organic apple. Visitors can sample flavors for free, purchase a single cup of kombucha or fill up a growler for the week.
