Trey is a 13-year veteran in the Air Force who recently moved to Lakeland to attend a registered dietician program at Keiser University. He has always been passionate about fitness, but it wasn’t until the Air Force sent him to a fitness + nutrition school that he became fascinated with nutrition. When he returned, now certified as a fitness nutritionist, he helped his fellow military unit members pass their physical training tests and soon after, started his business Smith Advanced Nutrition Enterprise (SANE, for short). Business grew quickly through word-of-mouth and Trey took a step back from his full-time position at the Air Force to work part-time as an Air Force National Guardsman. With newfound freedom in his schedule, Trey pursued SANE full-time and has since introduced a fitness lifestyle brand, Alpha Omega Athletics.
What is your business? Alpha Omega Athletics is a lifestyle brand that focuses on personal growth and the power of a positive mindset. We offer clothing that inspires + emphasizes hard work, dedication, and belief in your own abilities.
Who are your clients? My client-base includes anyone who needs help improving their health and is ready to do whatever it takes. My clients have a desire to be a part of something bigger than themselves and want to identify with the culture represented by the apparel they buy.
What inspired you to become an entrepreneur? I was fed up with the mundane. I saw a chance to create something of my own and I’ve worked to make that vision a reality. I’m still figuring it out, but because I chose to start my own business, I can look back with zero regrets and be satisfied that I took a chance on myself– that in itself is a success.
What are some business wins? One huge win in particular was helping a man lose 75 pounds and place 4th in his very first bodybuilding competition. His confidence skyrocketed, he was able to keep the weight off, and he is currently an Alpha Omega Athletics lifestyle wear ambassador.
How has Catapult helped you? Catapult has a “make it happen” energy that puts me in the right mindset to be productive. Everyone in the basement is hustling + working hard on their business and that environment is so inspiring. Not to mention all the great minds and the wealth of knowledge that exists in the space.
What is your Secret Sauce? If I want something bad enough, dream about it, speak it into existence, put in the work for it, and unshakably, emphatically believe that it can come to fruition: it will HAPPEN. That goal, that vision, that dream for which I had set my mind to will materialize. Period.
