Video games have been Nate’s creative outlet for most of his life. While growing up in Miami, he sought out competitive opportunities online and via LAN events in the early days of Halo and Call of Duty. In 2014, Nate began attending Florida Southern College, majoring in Music Management. While at FSC, his passion for competing in video games led him to learn more about production and managing Esports teams. During his final semester, Nate was offered a position to spearhead and direct the school’s Esports program in its inaugural year. In 2019, Nate continues to further develop the Esports program at Florida Southern. Growing the Esports community in Lakeland and bringing player health to the forefront of the industry are two of Nate’s current focuses.
What is your business? Esports at Florida Southern College is a hybrid project between FSC Athletics and Student Development. We currently have four teams competing in multiple games and a community of roughly 200 students.
Who are your clients? My clients are current FSC students and inbound program recruits. However, I have the privilege of working with a variety of Esports organizations, program partners, and Esports professionals who coach on an international level.
What are your short-term goals? Revamping our program’s current website and branding and continuing to bring talented and creative students to FSC and this awesome city.
What are some business wins? We have not only created the first collegiate Esports program in Florida, but we have one of the most successful programs in the US.
How has Catapult helped you? Catapult’s creative and productive environment has helped me grow our program and its members couldn’t be more thoughtful and helpful.
Why Lakeland? Lakeland is such a beautiful and unique city. It’s so much fun to watch this town grow and even more fun to be a part of it.
What is your Secret Sauce? Taking the time to rest once I have accomplished my goal.
