While Chase was in Texas and Shannon was in Florida, they met through a mutual friend, started dating, and got engaged long-distance. Three months before the wedding, they decided to move to Lakeland and have been here for the last nine years. They have a two-year-old son named Remington and a one-month-old daughter named Decklynn. They have always been involved with children and youth and their passion is to see families strengthened together. Chase currently works with Heartland for Children for the prevention of child abuse and neglect, and Shannon runs Little Remi from home.
What is your business? We sell thoughtfully-designed, environmentally-friendly, premium textiles for little ones.
Who are your clients? Parents who want to provide the best products for their infants and toddlers.
What inspired you to become an entrepreneur? We have always wanted to be the ones who raised our kids. When Remington was born, we had to choose to both work full-time to pay for day care or find a way to work from home. Entrepreneurship was the answer!
Something interesting? Our products are made from bamboo, our designs are hand-painted or drawn by local artists, and we give back to efforts that work toward strengthening families.
Business wins? 1) Receiving the Launch Grant from Catapult! 2) Having a celebrity post about our blankets and including them in her blog of must-have baby items, without us even asking.
Why Lakeland? I (Shannon) grew up here and we thought it would be a nice place to raise a family. We were surprised that Lakeland has turned into a city with a town-feel that shows great support for small businesses and has leadership that believes in its young people. We can’t think of a better place to raise our little family.
How has Catapult helped you? They have given us a community of people that helped inspire, teach, and push us.
Secret Sauce? Each other. Our best ideas come when we are together as a family.
