Brock McKean

Brock is a start-up engineer and sales funnel hacker with over 15 years of software experience. He has always possessed an entrepreneurial spirit and started a number of businesses, beginning in early high school. Though they didn’t see success, each failure came with an important lesson to be learned. After working as a computer engineer for several years, he decided to start his own software company. He worked with experienced marketers to master the craft of digital marketing and after a year of traveling, he returned to his hometown of Lakeland to officially launch Brock McKean, LLC.

What is your business? I engineer software, digital products, and marketing strategies to launch new and innovative products that don’t exist yet.

Who are your clients? Risk-averse companies looking to radically improve their business efficiency and sales.

What was the hardest part of starting your business? Self-development. Getting out of your own way can be difficult and complicated. Most people never do.

What inspired you to become an entrepreneur? Since I was young, I have always asked: “How can this be better?” I felt an obligation to leave the world a better place than I found it and I’m trying to do that by employing my engineering and marketing skills.

What are some business wins? The last lead generation project I completed dramatically increased the client’s return on advertising costs and virtually automated their sales process.

What would you like to see in Lakeland? A vibrant tech start-up culture!

How has Catapult helped you? Catapult is honestly the best. It’s an amazing and friendly co-working community that has given me a consistent, positive environment to stay focused at minimal cost to me and my business.

Secret Sauce? Try to let go of your ego and focus on what’s important.
